Australian Wine Companion Poggerino review

Recensione dalla rivista Australian Wine Companion

The world of wine is a

big palette from which

to make a selection of just

20 wines, and with such

diversity of styles coming

into the Australian market

thanks to our strong dollar,

consumers are spoilt

for choice. Many wines

chosen here are consistent

performers year in, year

out, so if you struggle to

find the vintage mentioned,

other vintages won’t

disappoint. There are

many countries that have

missed representation here,

but they do feature in our

imported reviews, so keep

reading and experimenting

to find styles of wine that

suit your own tastes.

Poggerino Chianti

Classico, 2009

{ Tuscany, Italy }

Piero Lanza is so passionate about producing

wines that express his unique terroir in Rada in

Chianti that he refuses to entertain the notion

of expansion so he can control everything in

the vineyard and the winemaking, and it shows

in his wines; the 2009 rendition of his Chianti

Classico is a generous, forward and sumptuous

wine with dark cherry, bramble and attractive

anise notes, and while there is an apparent

softness, there are ample fine-grained tannins

providing a long and harmonious finish.
