Which is the closest international airport and what about the train station?

The closest international airport is in Florence; many low-cost flights land in Pisa and Bologna. The international airport in Roma (named Fiumicino) is about 3,5hrs driving from here. Concerning the train station, Siena is a bit closer but it’s a secondary station. We definitely recommend you, if you need to use the train, to use  the Florence railway station.

If I want to visit Florence or Siena do I have to drive there or is there a bus?

Both, on your choice.
Parking in Florence can be sometimes difficult and expensive. There are a few daily busses from Radda to Florence and back. The best option is to leave your car in Greve in Chianti (half way between Radda and Florence) and take a bus from there: busses are more frequent from/to Greve.
In Florence the last bus stop is in the railway station square, in the town centre. The service is provided by the Company SITA: www.sita-on-line.it
We will provide you with the bus timetable on your arrival.
Driving and parking is Siena – which is a smaller town- is ok.

We would like to visit the Uffizi Gallery in Florence but we don’t want to queue.

We recommend you to book your ticket for the Uffizi and other museums on-line in advance You will avoid the queue: www.florenceart.it/booking. Another possibility is to book the Uffizi by phone: 055294883 No credit card number is required.

No phone line in the apartments. In our office- which is located about 500m. away from the apartments- you can receive faxes and check your e-mails without any charge. A public phone can be found in Radda in Chianti (3km away); it works with a pre-paid card which you can buy in the newspapers store.

All the rooms have central heating. The temperature can be manually controlled in each room. The heating is included in the room’s cost.

“La Canonica” and “Il Bugiallino” do not have a heating system but the open fireplace. The wood is paid on consume. All our apartments are only rented during the spring/summer period when heating is normally not needed...

Is there air conditioning in the apartments?

No and….air conditioning is not needed! The houses are surprisingly naturally fresh because they are build in stone and the walls are very thick. A light pullover and a plaid (supplied in the apartments and rooms) on the bed are often needed in the evening, even in summer. We are 500 m alt.
